This is a superb afghanite crystal on calcite matrix, presenting a strong, upright crystal with pleasing form and a softly luminous blue coloration. In normal light, the afghanite shows attractive translucency and a calm, refined presence, with subtle internal textures that give the crystal depth and natural character. Lapis is visible on the specimen, adding geological interest and reinforcing the classic Koksha Valley association.
Under ultraviolet light, the crystal displays a striking pink fluorescence, creating a dramatic transformation that elevates the specimen well beyond its already appealing daylight appearance. The afghanite rises cleanly from a pale calcite matrix, which provides excellent contrast and a stable, well-balanced base for display. Overall, this is a visually compelling and highly collectible example that highlights both the rarity and aesthetic appeal of afghanite from Afghanistan.
