Peridot is the gem variety of olivine, a magnesium-iron silicate that crystallizes deep within the Earth’s mantle before being brought closer to the surface through tectonic processes. Well-formed and transparent crystals from such an origin are always desirable, particularly when they retain strong natural definition and internal character.
This crystal from Sapat Gali features elegant parallel growth, with a secondary prism rising closely alongside the main crystal, creating a graceful, architectural silhouette. The arrangement gives the specimen a dynamic, almost tiered appearance, making it rewarding to view from multiple perspectives. The terminations are sharp and well defined, and the faces display a lively vitreous luster that enhances the crystal’s transparency.
The color is fresh and vibrant, ranging from bright grassy green to richer olive hues as the light shifts across the surfaces. Within the crystal, slender acicular strands of ludwigite are visible, delicately suspended and forming subtle internal textures. These inclusions lend depth and individuality to the piece, adding natural interest without overpowering its clarity.
Sapat Gali is widely recognized for producing some of Pakistan’s finest peridot crystals, admired for their saturation and form. With its attractive color, distinctive parallel growth, and characteristic ludwigite inclusions, this specimen offers both aesthetic charm and geological significance, making it a refined and collectible example of peridot.
