This is a wonderful Sharply crystallized Grandidierite on matrix. This species is scarce, to be found on matrix and this is for the first time I have handled a matrix. It is the famous locality, from which specimens were recovered around 1900 and identified in 1902. This rare magnesium, aluminum oxide, and borate silicate occurs in lustrous, slightly translucent, sky-blue crystals, up to 4.5 cm across. This entire Cluster is composed of sharp tabular crystals with a beautiful shape. It’s rare to find a good matrix piece and certainly a very good one. It came from an old collection.
