Hematite on chlorine Quartz
Hematite on chlorine Quartz, Hematite also spelled as hematite, is a common iron oxide compound with the formula, Fe₂O₃ and is widely found in rocks and soils. Hematite crystals belong to the rhombohedral lattice system which is designated the alpha polymorph of Fe ₂O ₃.
It has the same crystal structure as corundum and ilmenite.
This specimen feature a stunning, mirror-lustrous, symmetrical, “Iron Rose”, of the classic Alpine style. It is associated with and accented by superb perfect chlorine Quartz.
Superb composition I cannot recall seeing one of these as such a perfect full flower on a perfect crystal of chlorine Quartz from this locality and what is so special is the hematite flower sits right on top of the quartz – and these really do seem brighter than the traditional Swiss examples. A complete Floater, 360 degrees!
