The name “Rutile” was first introduced by German geologist Abraham Gottlob Werner in 1800, derived from the Latin word “rutilus,” meaning “reddish.” Rutile was also known by other names, such as “Red Schorl.” This stunning Rutile specimen features a classic, perfectly-formed, vivid red tetragonal crystal with excellent shape, quality, and a remarkable combination.

It’s the first time we have seen this combination in such quality, with one of the branches extending into a termination, giving the piece a fine matrix structure. The specimen is composed of a cluster of several tetragonal crystals, aesthetically arranged together, exhibiting an amazing adamantine metallic sheen and good transparency.

The Rutile sits alongside gemmy green Aegerine, while the white Albite at the bottom forms the matrix, making this specimen truly outstanding. This piece boasts exceptional aesthetics, with the attached white Albite adding to its visual appeal, and the green Aegerine making it unique and truly special!
