Spodumene var Kunzite with Tourmaline

Spodumene var Kunzite with Tourmaline is strongly pleochroic, the pleochroism is easily observed in many transparent crystals, where the color ranges from yellow to violet when viewed at different angles. Pink Kunzite will often exhibit a deeper pink color on crystal terminations due to the pleochroism.

Kunzite is a pink to a lavender variety of Spodumene, colored by the presence of manganese, and it is known for its lovely pink color that is very distinct. Of all localities worldwide that produced kunzite, there are just a few stand out for outstanding specimens, of which Afghanistan is one.

This is an excellent example with great saturation of the natural pink color, great translucency, and exhibits sharp parallel striations on a crystal surface.

More interestingly there is a beautiful double terminated tourmaline crystal that sits on the termination of the crystal, normally tourmaline crystal grows on matrix, but here an isolated tourmaline crystal grows on kunzite, which adds a great value and visual impact to this sizeable specimen.
