Alkali Rich Beryl
Alkali-rich beryl is a distinctive member of the beryl group, once mistaken for rare species such as rosterite or vorobyevite until further analysis confirmed its true identity. The crystals are typically lustrous and translucent, often exhibiting a rich sky-blue color that sets them apart from other beryl varieties. They commonly form sharp hexagonal prisms with clean terminations, and in some cases can reach impressive sizes. While not as vividly colored as emerald or aquamarine, alkali-rich beryl is admired for its clarity, graceful forms, and scientific significance in pegmatite mineralogy. Collectors value these specimens for their uncommon color and aesthetic appeal, which showcase the diversity within the beryl family.
