Indicolite Tourmaline

Indicolite is the striking blue variety of tourmaline, admired for its vibrant color range that spans from light sky blue to deep oceanic shades. The crystals are often transparent with fine luster and sharp terminations, making them highly prized by collectors and gem enthusiasts alike. Afghanistan is renowned for producing some of the finest indicolite tourmalines, especially from the pegmatites of Nuristan and Laghman. These specimens can reach impressive sizes, characterized by intense blue coloration and remarkable clarity. Many are found in association with quartz, albite, and lepidolite, which provide elegant contrasts that enhance their overall presentation. Although indicolite also occurs in Brazil, Namibia, and a few other localities worldwide, the Afghan indicolite tourmalines are especially celebrated for its depth of color and crystal quality, placing it among the best available to collectors.
