Demantoid Garnet
Demantoid Garnet is one of the most celebrated varieties of garnet, admired for its vivid green color and exceptional fire that can even rival that of a diamond. First discovered in Russia’s Ural Mountains, it later became known from Namibia, Madagascar, South Asia, and a few other select localities. The finest specimens show intense green hues with outstanding brilliance, often forming sharp, lustrous dodecahedral crystals or perched beautifully on a contrasting matrix. Some display the rare horsetail inclusions, a feature highly prized by collectors worldwide. With its rarity, beauty, and gemlike qualities, demantoid garnet is considered one of the most desirable garnet types and remains a highlight in any fine mineral collection.
