Chrome Dravite
Chrome Dravite is a striking green variety of tourmaline colored by traces of chromium and vanadium. It is admired for its vivid emerald-green hues, sharp terminations, and attractive crystal habit, often appearing as lustrous prismatic crystals. Its vibrant color and rarity make it one of the most desirable members of the tourmaline group. Tanzania is one of the classic sources of chrome dravite, producing crystals of exceptional clarity and color saturation. Specimens from this region are particularly valued for their gemlike transparency and brilliant green tones, which can rival that of fine emeralds. Pakistan has also emerged as an essential locality, yielding beautiful chromium- and vanadium-rich dravite crystals. These are frequently found on a contrasting white matrix, such as albite, which enhances their color and aesthetic appeal. The Pakistani specimens often show sharp, well-defined terminations and a bright luster, making them highly attractive to collectors.
