A truly special piece from the pegmatite fields of Afghanistan, this Kunzite crystal is everything a collector hopes to find. The color is rich and saturated, a deep violet-pink that softens to a delicate lavender toward the top of the crystal, giving it a natural gradient that photographs beautifully and looks even better in hand. The crystal itself is in pristine condition. Vertical striations run cleanly along each prismatic face, and the clarity throughout the body is glassy and open. The etched termination at the apex is entirely natural, shaped by hydrothermal processes over millions of years, and it gives the crystal a sense of character and authenticity that a clean, broken top simply cannot replicate. At the base, a warm champagne tone marks where the crystal once met its matrix, a nice natural detail that tells part of its story. Everything else is complete and undamaged. Crystals like this from Afghanistan are becoming increasingly hard to find at this level of quality. Strong color, excellent clarity, a natural termination, and pristine condition, all in one piece, are a combination that does not come along often.
