This extraordinary tourmaline specimen from the renowned Malkhan Pegmatite Field in Russia showcases two superb, multifaced rubellite crystals measuring 8.5 cm and 3.5 cm in length. These well-formed crystals rise elegantly from a contrasting quartz matrix, accompanied by albite, creating a visually striking and highly aesthetic composition. When backlit, the internal zoning is dramatically revealed, with the true deep Rubellite shade appearing in the middle section, while the terminations display a darker saturation.
Both crystals have undergone a single, expertly executed repair that is completely invisible to the eye and touch, ensuring that the piece retains its full integrity and natural beauty. The exceptional quality, vibrant color, and remarkable three-dimensional aesthetics make this an outstanding collector’s specimen.
The Malkhan Pegmatite Field in Siberia is the largest source of gem-grade and specimen-quality tourmaline in Russia. Discovered in the 1980s, this locality has since produced some of the world’s most impressive tourmaline specimens, often featuring wine-red hues in association with smoky quartz and cleavelandite. These remarkable crystals rival the legendary tourmaline finds of Brazil, California, and the Himalayas, making them highly sought after by collectors and connoisseurs alike.
