This remarkable specimen showcases a well-defined synchysite crystal elegantly seated on a contrasting matrix of riebeckite and albite, sourced from the renowned Zagi Mountains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan—a region celebrated for its rare-earth mineral occurrences. The synchysite crystal displays a deep, warm brown coloration with a bright, glassy luster and well-terminated edges, adding significant visual appeal to the piece.
What elevates this specimen is the dramatic contrast between the synchysite and the fibrous, steel-blue riebeckite matrix, accentuated by intergrown patches of white albite. The synchysite cluster is centrally positioned, enhancing its prominence and creating a naturally balanced and sculptural composition. While there is minor edge wear on the main crystal, it does little to detract from the specimen’s overall quality and aesthetic impact.
This is a superb example of a rare-earth carbonate mineral in an attractive association, making it a compelling addition for collectors focused on rare species, Pakistani localities, or unique crystallographic forms.
